June 2019 Astrology Overview

Hope your life’s journey is going well these days. So many people are at cross roads in their lives and are questioning their purpose and experiences. This is normal given the current energy shifts that are occurring to all of us at this time. This month we find ourselves going deeper down the rabbit hole of self-discovery thanks to the Sun transiting curious Gemini and the Full Moon in philosophical Sagittarius. Partnership oriented Venus will also enter Gemini increasing the need for exchanging information with others. But the really big astrological news this month is the second Jupiter/Neptune square of the year.

Expansive Jupiter and dreamy Neptune, two of the most idealistic and no-limits planets, will engage in another tension-fueled square (90-degree angle) on June 16th. The first one occurred on January 13th, and the last one will happen on September 21st. This cosmic clash will stir up confusion and delusion, snapping us out of denial with uncomfortable but necessary reality checks. However, this time around responsible Saturn will be in the mix to help with realistic expectations.

The month begins with a New Moon in Gemini on June 3rd. It’s natural to get excited about new ideas and opportunities during a new lunar cycle, but it’s even more so this month with the New Moon in Gemini. For this mutable air sign, the possibilities are literally endless! The New Moon in the curious and communicative sign of Gemini will present an excellent time to commit to personal goals that express the positive energies of this sign. This lunation is perfect for listening to others and enjoying others’ points of view, re-evaluate our communication and social skills, begin a new project that involves writing and/or speaking, or anything that is in the communication field. We” find ourselves opening our minds to gather more information and facts from our environments. The Jupiter-Neptune square will be in a loose alignment to this New Moon so just make sure you don’t go overboard with your ideas.

The following day, Mercury, the ruler of Gemini, enters cautious Cancer. When Mercury moves into Cancer, it sends our reasoning process into “feelings” mode. Cancer is a water sign, so thoughts just pour in on their own. You’ll find your mind taking a lot of logical side trips, as you bounce from river to ocean and back to a little lake before settling down on the porch. Picture the crab and how it walks sideways toward its target. Mercury is about thinking, so it’s time to think sideways. It takes a little longer, but the trip is nicer.

Our communication increases even more on June 8th as Venus enters Gemini.  When Venus is in Gemini, we have a finger in every pie. Curiosity motivates us on romantic and social levels. “Variety is the spice of life” during this transit. We are sociable, communicative, and interested in everything and everyone. We can be animated and fun but may also keep our distance on an emotional level. Attractions now may begin with words, as we tend to bond more readily on a mental level with Venus in Gemini. The shadow side of Gemini is fickleness and non-commitment.

Our visions and dreams come to life on June 16th as the second Jupiter square Neptune occurs. On the one hand this alignment is great for psychic ability and seeing into the future, but on the other hand, are these visions realistic?  With Jupiter forming a square to Neptune, we may be misled easily–by others or by our own impractical or inflated expectations. This transit can indict an inability to focus on important and rational details, some disorganization, and extravagance or exaggerations are possible. Routine seems to be particularly unsatisfying during with this alignment. This is a time when we easily take a detour from a practical path.

It can also be a time when we are disillusioned by something or someone. We need to watch carefully for a tendency to evade and avoid things, as well as for writing ourselves new beliefs or philosophies that justify this avoidance. There can be a lot of wandering, meandering, and lack of being grounded. We might have troubles setting boundaries for ourselves. There is a need to come down to earth from time to time. Some routines, discipline, regularity, and rhythms should be enforced to counteract this tendency. Spiritual inspiration is a potential, however, as we shed false beliefs, expectations, and paths.

Fortunately, this time around structured Saturn will sextile (favorable) Neptune. Saturn’s discipline can help bring structure or meaning to our dreams and ideals. At the same time, Neptune’s acceptance and devotion can help bring new meaning to our work, traditions, and customs. It’s easier to enjoy a sense of purpose in our lives with this influence. We can feel as if our spiritual and material goals harmonize. Circumstances and our own attitudes facilitate following through on our dreams or turning our visions and dreams into reality. Combining imagination and effort is successful now. There can be a sense that our dreams are realizable, and we can build stronger faith and acceptance.

And speaking of faith and acceptance, this month’s Full Moon on June 17th will take place in philosophical Sagittarius igniting our curiosity and beliefs even more. This lunation may send shock waves throughout our minds as it makes a connection to surprising Uranus. We may find ourselves blazing a new trail with moral courage, an open mind and willingness to question all we know. This is an interesting time because the Moon in far-seeing Sagittarius opposes the Sun in nearsighted Gemini. Gemini is concerned with things that are nearby while Sagittarius wants us to contemplate what’s on the distant horizon. We might be overwhelmed with ideas and information, but the Sagittarius Full Moon helps us focus our attention on long-term goals and higher principles rather than getting lost in a flood of small details.

Our feelings get activated on June 21st as the radiate Sun enters sensitive Cancer. This also marks the Summer Solstice (Northern Hemisphere) when the Sun begins its ascent to the highest point in the sky. When the Sun moves into Cancer, watch the birds as they carry twig after twig to their chosen site and build a nest where they can bring their babies into the world. This is instinctive behavior, built upon many seasons of repetition. In Cancer, the Sun’s ego-centered energy combines with the reflective, hidden energy of Luna. The past is important to Cancer, as is the concept of nurturing – both self and others. Cancer is a cardinal water sign, ruled by the Moon, meaning that it is active, yet runs on emotions. Think about the ocean and the tremendous depth of the water. Yet the power of the Moon pulls that water from one side of the earth to the other as she moves through the night sky.

Finally, our need to express ourselves increases on June 26th when Mercury enters creative Leo. Leo loves the limelight and is proud of it! As Mercury moves into the fire sign of Leo, we all begin to want applause for our dramatic, big-picture concepts. Mercury in Leo brings a tremendous surge of activity, like the wind whipping up a fire storm. This is what you could call an extremely symbiotic relationship. Mercury, that little instigator, stirs Leo’s already strong and active passions into a frenzy of doing things. Then, as Leo’s heat intensifies, Mercury’s little winged feet have to move even faster to stay one step ahead of the next flying cinder. By the end of Mercury’s stay in Leo, don’t be surprised to find yourself exhausted.
